Overview of the project
The DynamicSim project started about one year ago, when I
and a friend decided to join our knowledges and passion for the world of aircrafts
with the aim to produce a flight simulator that would resemble reality as
close as possible.
We decided to model the wonderful Hawaiian scenario, and so
far we have collected a huge amount of information and details about the
islands. At the time of this writing we have already modelled
Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, part of the
Big Island, and right now we are in the process of "populating"
the island with buildings, structures, vegetation etc.
The aircraft chosen for the project is the FA-18 Hornet: we
have been able to find several technical manuals and documents which allowed
us to develop a very detailed and complex flight model, which is the core of
our flight simulator.
Flight model development has been a massive and time-consuming task, but now
that is complete let me say that is something we are really proud of,
especially because there are no parts that are "scripted" or
"pre-calculated".
The flight model is computed in real time from dynamic flow equations, and
it's just from the word "dynamic" that we derived the name for our flight
simulator, to better describe its peculiar feature, its dynamic nature.
We invite you to visit the "Technology" section which contains several
informations about the way we are developing DynamicSim, ranging from
aircraft operations to 3D graphics programming, from natural and
athmospheric effects to flow dynamic.
Have a good time !
